My writing is clear, precise, and carefully researched. It is informed by my background as a geographer, and my 17 years of experience in applied research for local government. With 16 years experience as a writer and photographer, I know how to get a point across.

Major Publications

• Articles: My 70+ articles have appeared in magazines ranging from Country Extra to Japan's Exploring the Heart of Britain, with the majority being published by British Heritage. This bi-monthly travel magazine has commissioned 67 photo/text packages from me since 1998. They've asked me to write on a wide variety of topics, from landscape planning to Dr. Syn — with the typical article exploring a specific travel destination through its links with history and literature.
• Books as Author: Countryman Press, the distinguished travel imprint of publisher WW Norton, has contracted with me to write and photograph three titles of their highly acclaimed Explorer's Guide series, and two titles of their new Photographer's Guide series. Countryman Press appreciates my ability to weave themes through an entry-based guidebook, to perform focused research that allows the books to go beyond the ordinary, and to involve readers with a good sense of the places they are going to visit.
